Road closed, power restoration continues after storm | Local News

Power restoration crews for Ameren Illinois and Ameren Missouri will continue working in the region this week. Highway 94 in West Alton was closed in both directions Monday morning at Saale Road and Route 67 for crews to repair downed power lines.

National Weather Service assessment teams are also out in the area to continue surveying the damage and determine the type of storm that moved through North St. Louis County and into St. Charles County and on into Alton Friday night. National Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Deitsch tells The Big Z how they determine tornado damage versus straight-line winds.

Meanwhile, power restoration also continues through St. Clair County in Illinois and to the south. Deitsch tells The Big Z they are grateful that so many people heeded the warnings on Friday.

As a result of the continuing surveys, the National Weather Service has canceled the spotter talk scheduled for Litchfield on Tuesday.
