Move over, Trey Songz. According to Marlon Wayans, his brother Damon Wayans Sr. is the real “Mr. Steal Your Girl” after he admitted to falling in love with his nephew’s ex-girlfriend.
Speaking with TMZ on Tuesday, the comedian shared his take on the “Poppa’s House” star making headlines earlier this month for admitting to swooping in and dating his nephew’s former flame.
“Damon, you gotta stop doing that,” Marlon told the outlet on Tuesday while explaining that this isn’t the “first time” that Damon Sr. has done something similar.
The “White Chicks” actor continued, “Damon’s the girlfriend-stealing bandit in the Wayans family,” before reiterating, “You gonna stop this, Damon.”
Referring to his older brother as a “true player,” Marlon went on to tease that there’s a general consensus in his family not to “bring a girl around D” for that very reason.
Seemingly putting all jokes aside, Marlon delivered a message directly to Damon Sr., telling him he should “stop doing that seriously” because “it’s terrible.”
“It’s not what brothers and siblings and uncles and nephews do,” he added. “Even the ugly ones, he takes them all.”
Earlier this month, Damon Sr. appeared on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast where he confirmed to host Shannon Sharpe that he once dated the same woman that his nephew did despite knowing the pair’s romantic history.
“I was in love with her, that’s the thing,” Damon Sr. said before joking, “Come on, you ain’t never did the Jackson 5?”
The “Major Payne” star’s quip was a reference to Jackson 5 musician Jermaine Jackson tying the knot with Alejandra Oaziaza, the ex-girlfriend of Jermaine’s younger brother, Randy Jackson.
After Sharpe responded that hooking up with a family member’s ex is “off-limits,” Damon Sr. argued, “No, but it wasn’t like they were in love.”
He added: “You know how small the pool is out here in Cali? The dating pool? Like, and this was probably … 2001 or 2002.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Damon Sr., who claimed to Sharpe that he got permission from his nephew to date his ex, explained that falling “in love” with her happened in the wake of his divorce from Lisa Thorner.
Damon Sr. and Thorner were married from 1984 to 2000 and share four kids, including actor Damon Wayans Jr.
“I got divorced, and I was by myself for two years, and then I saw her and I was just like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m in love,’” he said.
Damon Sr. wrapped up the bizarre story by teasing, “Family gatherings is awkward.”
