Philadelphia Eagles ‘Making Fans’ Out of Reportedly Snubbing White House

The Philadelphia Eagles have turned down an invitation to visit the White House for the second time, according to new reports.

Late on Sunday evening, several media outlets, including Athlon Sports and Newsweek, reported that the team would not be taking part in what’s become a tradition for Super Bowl champions, a meet and greet with the president at the stately residence.

After reigning supreme over the Kansas City Chiefs at this past season’s big game, a source close to the Eagles told The Sun that the discussion about how to respond to the White House’s invitation resulted in a “massive no.”

This would be the second time the Philadelphia team opted not to indulge in the custom. The first diss came during Donald Trump‘s first term in 2018, when there was a lack of support amongst the entire team, resulting in only a “small number of players” being open to the invite, which was later rescinded by the president over the team’s lack of interest.

While some supporters remain disappointed in the apparent choice this time around, the Eagles have earned much more praise–even “making fans” out of some.

“ik nothing about [A]merican football but this team ended up all over tiktok before, during and after the superbowl and i’m afraid they’ve charmed me,” a second X (formerly Twitter user) wrote.

“[I] would die for my country, Philadelphia,” another quipped.

“Beating the Chiefs and refusing Trump’s invite. Respect,” a fourth added.

“Everytime I think I can’t like the [E]agles players more,” another admitted, “they do some shit that makes me go ‘damn they’re cool af.'”

“‘massive no’ is taking me out,” one more joked. “like not even a regular no.”

That said, the president was vocal about his support for the Chiefs during this year’s game and was caught leaving early after it became apparent that the Eagles were on the path to victory, so he’s probably not too upset he’s no longer on the hook to host!
