The National Weather Service is forecasting severe weather in the Tennessee Valley for Sunday evening.
The weather service predicts a storm system will bring widespread and severe thunderstorms to West and Middle Tennessee. The storms are expected to occur on Sunday evening, following a weekend of rain.
Here is when to expect the weather system to move into the area.
Memphis severe weather forecast
Sunday night through early Monday morning, the area will experience widespread and intense storms. The Mid-South sits in an enhanced risk for persistent or widespread storms.
“Shower and thunderstorm chances increase Saturday and Sunday, with at least a 30% chance of severe weather Sunday night into Monday,” The National Weather Service wrote in the forecaster’s discussion.
According to the weather service, large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes can occur while the storms are present. The storms will be a nighttime event, occurring in the late hours of Sunday and into the early hours of Monday.

Sunday’s high will be 81 degrees, and the low will be 54 degrees. There is a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day and a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, with hail and tornadoes possible.

Monday will be mostly sunny, with a high of 65 degrees and a low of 44 degrees.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high of 71 degrees and a low of 61 degrees. There is a 40% chance of showers in the late evening.
